Next up in the Major League Baseball special event calendar is Father’s Day. Of the many Special Event caps that were introduced last year, the surprise winner of the popularity contest was the Father’s Day edition. As a father-son tradition instilled in many families, it’s no surprise that the Father’s Day cap would be popular as a gift for your pops. I suggest finding one for your old man as soon as possible; these tend to fly off the shelves. You’ll see all of MLB don these caps starting Friday and throughout the weekend. Our Padres will be wearing these on the road in Milwaukee for a three game set this year.
Light blue crown
Graphite brim and squatcho
White interlocking SD and New Era flag
This edition of the Father’s Day cap makes light (powder, sky) blue the focal point as the crown color. Why light blue? Outside of the color being traditional for boys, light blue is the official color of prostate cancer awareness. The Father’s Day and Mother’s Day caps are vastly different from each other this year; last year’s models has the same design motif.
Two shades of blue make up the interior of the white MLB Batterman logo. As with most of the caps this year, this cap is also completely done in New Era’s “Shadowtech” material. You can see the material lends a unique look to the cap.
The underbrim, sweatband and interior taping are all gray, which is typical of Special Event caps this year. Also noted are the lack of Authentic and Size tags sewn into the rear of the sweatband; these are now printed. It has been noted that these printed tags do peel off, however...
As mentioned previously, I suggest scouring your local hat retailer as early as possible if you’d like to grab one of these caps for your dad. This cap was incredibly popular last year and looks to be a hot seller again.
