It took them 39 games, but the Padres finally have possession of the worst record in baseball, and the march to the top pick in next year’s draft continues with four games at home against Milwaukee. The Brewers come to town at the perfect time to help the Friars fall deeper into the abyss, as they’ve been red-hot of recent. They’re fresh off a sweep of the Mets, and have won six of their last seven games. Milwaukee now sits second in the NL Central standings, just one game behind the Cardinals, and could very well be in first place by the time they’re back at San Diego International Airport to head to Chicago. After all, the Cardinals are off today and Thursday, sandwiching two games against a good Red Sox club, while the Brewers get four whacks at a cheaply constructed pinata.
Game 1
Luis Perdomo vs Chase Anderson
Monday, May 15; 7:10 pm
Roy already has the game preview up for this one, so instead of being redundant I’ll just recommend that you read that.
Game 2
Clayton Richard vs Jimmy Nelson
Tuesday, May 16; 7:10 pm
...in fact, it’s kind of senseless for me to hammer out a bunch of words and numbers in the series preview that will be in the game previews anyway. I should switch up my format. Any suggestions?
On a side note, one thing I like about getting deeper into the season is that now there are pictures of nearly every pitcher wearing the Friday home brown uniform. Clayton Richard hasn’t worn it on the mound yet this year, but fortunately there are plenty of photos depicting him wearing various brown uniforms in years past.
Game 3
Jhoulys Chacin vs Matt Garza
Wednesday, May 17; 7:10 pm
See, doesn’t that look so much better than that white and blue nonsense? I really can’t make that point enough.
Also, in case you don’t know, Matt Garza sucks. He’s actually pitching well this season, but he just sucks as a human being. Plus, he looks like Vanilla Ice when he tried to cash in on the nu-metal craze, and I find that hilarious.
Game 4
Trevor Cahill vs Zach Davies
Thursday, May 18: 12:40 pm
This could be a tough one to lose. Cahill has been looking extremely legit this season, and he could seriously hamper the tank until AJ Preller can Pomeranz him for some future Friars.
More details about each game, including starting lineups, will be included in our individual game previews and game threads on the day of each. And don’t forget to comment your suggestions of what you’d like to see and read in these series previews.
