After last night’s disastrous affair, the Padres and Diamondbacks played a very different kind of baseball tonight. Jhoulys Chacin and Zack Greinke took an incredible pitchers’ duel all the way into the eighth inning, allowing a combined eight hits and two walks while striking out eleven. But Chacin got the backing of a very unlikely hero... Erick Aybar. You read that right. Aybar took Greinke deep in the bottom of the eighth to score the only run of the game.

Brandon Maurer came in to pick up the save, which wasn’t without drama. A.J. Pollock hit a leadoff single and stole second, but Maurer wasn’t fazed. He got a strikeout, a groundout, and another groundout to wrap up the win and end the losing streak.
Clayton Richard will try to turn this into a winning streak tomorrow night. First pitch at 6:10 PM.
