The Padres have something a little special in store for today's Spring Training matchup. This afternoon tey will face off against Team Mexico in an exhibition game and primer for the 2017 World Baseball Classic, which is already underway.
Walker Lockett will get the start for San Diego. He's pitched twice already this Spring but today will be his first appearance as a starter. In his previous two outings he threw a combined three innings of work, allowing one run on two hits.
Padres infielder prospect Luis Urias will be suiting up for Team Mexico today. As part of Pool C in the World Baseball Classic, Mexico will begin its first round of play on Thursday, March 9th. If they advance, they'll head to San Diego for round 2 at Petco Park.
Fox Sports San Diego and MLB.TV will broadcast today's exhibition game live at 12:10 pm PT. There will be no Padres radio broacast.
