After defeating the Mariners yesterday at Peoria Stadium, the Padres are back on the road today, set to face the Dodgers in Glendale.
On the hill for San Diego will be Luis Perdomo, who is making his final start of the Spring. The young righty, who is fighting for a rotation spot going into the season, has been impressive in Cactus League play, arguably the best starter to take the mound for the Padres this Spring. In four appearances, he threw 15 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on 14 hits and six walks while striking out nine batters. But although hes pitched well in Arizona, the Padres may consider keeping him down at Triple-A to start the season in order to limit his service time.
The Dodgers, who have split squad action this afternoon, will send Julio Urias to the mound at Camelback Ranch. Urias has pitched well in his limited time on the mound this Spring - 5 2/3 innings of work altogether, with three runs allowed on four hits and three walks, as well as eight strikeouts. However, possibly like the Padres’ Perdomo, he will not be opening the season with the Major League club, as manager Dave Roberts announced recently.
