Padres Spring Training 2017 Game Preview: 02/28 vs. Giants

Jhoulys Chacin makes his Padres debut as they face an NL West foe foe the first time this Spring.

The Padres are still winless this Spring after dropping the decision against the Angels yesterday afternoon. Today they'll face an NL West opponent for the first time this Spring, and they'll debut one of AJ Preller's big offseason acquisitions.

Jhoulys Chacin will make his Padres debut as they host the Giants at Peoria Sports Complex today at noon. Chacin signed a one-year deal with San Diego in December for $1.75 million. He's expected to be a lock for the rotation out of Spring Training and will hopefully be able to eat up some innings for the tanking Padres in 2017.

Giants ace Madison Bumgarner will take the mound opposite Chacin, hoping to pick up where he left off in 2016. He went 15-9 with a 2.74 ERA an 1.03 WHIP while throwing a career-high 226 2⁄3 innings.

For the second day in a row you can watch the game on FOX Sports San Diego / Fox Sports GO / MLB.TV, but this time we get a home broadcast with Mark Grant and Don Orsillo, and there will be no radio option (See the full Spring Training broadcast schedule here).
