Halloween (or Gaslamp Ball-oween, as I like to call it around here) is just around the corner, and once again the Padres are holding a pumpkin carving contest. You may remember this contest from years past. Personally it's something that is near and dear to me, having been carving Padres pumpkins since 2009 and being the first winner of the contest when it began in 2012.
I don't think I'll be entering the contest this year, but I am excited to see what others come up with. The Padres are offering a "Padres prize pack" to the winner, which is the same prize as previous years. It is (by design) a vague description of a prize, but to give you an idea of what could possibly be included, I've gotten a Petco Park tour, a Tyson Ross signed ball, and tickets to the Holiday Wonderland at Petco Park in previous years. So... HUGE.
Really though, it's always a fun way to keep Padres baseball alive in your hearts over the offseason, especially if you're a Halloween lover. If you're wondering how you can enter this contest, it's simple:
- Carve a Padres-themed pumpkin. If you need ideas, I've got a bunch of them here.
- Take a picture (or many pictures!) of your beautiful handiwork.
- Post it on Twitter or Instagram before 3pm PT on October 31st and use the hashtag #PadresPumpkin. One winner will be chosen from each platform, so you have two chances to win!
I hope some of you enter (and one or two of you win!). If you do end up carving a Padres or baseball-themed pumpkin, post it down below in the comments, or better yet, make a fanpost! I'd love to see what you guys can come up with.
If you have some great ideas for a pumpkin, but perhaps don't have the time or will to carve it yourself, comment on this post with those ideas and maybe someone else can use it.
Happy carving and Happy Gaslamp Ball-oween!
We’re looking for the best Padres-themed !
