The Padres kicked off their final homestand of the season with a victory last night. They’ll try to make it two in a row as they continue their series against the Diamondbacks.

Paul Clemens gets the ball tonight, looking for his second straight win. The right-hander threw five shutout innings and allowed only three hits and a walk his last time out, against the Giants. In his start against the Dbacks last month, he also went five innings, but allowed three earned runs on eight hits and three walks in that outing. That was his second career appearance against Arizona; he also pitched in relief against them in July, his first appearance as a Padre. He allowed one run, unearned, in an inning of work.

On the hill opposite Clemens will be Archie Bradley, who will try to redeem himself from his last outing against the Padres, last month. He only lasted 4 2/3 innings, giving up five runs (four earned) on seven hits and three walks. The Friars also roughed him up on July 4th, scoring five earned runs in six innings against him. But Bradley did earn a win against them back in May, when he threw 7 1/3 innings of three-run ball.
