Sometimes a loss isn't dramatic. Tonight, the Padres lost in a spectacularly bad way. Mostly the result of a very awful start, coupled with some non-existent hitting.
There's no other way to put it: Edwin Jackson got utterly torn apart tonight. In a little over 4 innings he gave up a total of 10 hits, and allowed all 8 of Colorado's runs to cross the plate. Three home runs in total Jackson gave up, and it ended up paralyzing the Padres.
Jon Gray had the Friar lineup's number tonight. A 4-hit complete game shutout. SIXTEEN strikeouts. Only Travis Jankowski, Wil Myers, and Jon Jay would get hits tonight.
A brutal end to the series, but the Padres will get another shot at the Rockies tomorrow.
