After coming out on the losing end of a walk-off in last night’s series opener at Coors Field, the Padres will try to even things up with a win this evening. Edwin Jackson will make the start for San Diego opposite Colorado rookie Jon Gray.
Jackson pitched well in his last start, which was also against the Rockies. Through six innings of work he kept them to two runs on five hits and a walk. He ended up with a no-decision, as the Padres went on to lose that game by a run. That was his 13th career appearance (10th start) against the Rockies. He has a lifetime 10.25 ERA against them.
Gray also pitched in that series last week in San Diego. It was his sixth career start (third this season) against the Padres. It was also one of the worst outings of his career. He only lasted four innings, giving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits and three walks. The Friars won that one, and they’ll be looking to hang another L on Gray tonight.
