The Padres are back on the road for a weeklong road trip against a couple of NL West foes. First up are the Giants at AT&T Park, where the Friars will try to play a little game of spoiler.
Paul Clemens gets the start in game 1, coming off one of his worst starts of the season. He gave up season-highs in earned runs (five) and hits (nine) while lasting only four innings in a loss to the Red Sox. Tonight will mark his first career appearance against San Francisco.
On the hill for the Giants will be Jeff Samardzija, seeking his fourth win against the Padres this season. The right-hander is making his fifth 2016 start against San Diego. He’s an undefeated 3-0 with a 3.91 ERA against them already this year. Career-wise he’s 6-1 with a 3.29 ERA in ten outings (eight starts) against the Padres.
