After a series loss to the Phillies and an off day yesterday, the Padres will try to get back in the win column today as they kick off their road trip and series in Pittsburgh.

Rookie Luis Perdomo will get the start for San Diego. He's coming off one of his better appearances this season. He faced the Brewers a week ago, going 6 2/3 innings and throwing a season/career-high 113 pitches. He gave up three runs on ten hits and four walks in that outing.

The Pirates will counter with another rookie, Chad Kuhl, who will be making his fifth career Major League start. His most recent outing, on July 17, was his best one yet. He one-hit the Nationals for six innings, striking out five batters and allowing no walks.
