Padres Preview: 08/02 Luis Perdomo goes for third straight win

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Luis Perdomo gets the start opposite Zach Davies tonight as the Padres try to clinch a series win against the Brewers.

In his only previous appearance against Milwaukee,Perdomo threw two innings in relief, giving up two runs on four hits, two walks, and a hit batsman. But that was back in May, and the rookie has improved lately. He went 4-1 with a 3.99 ERA in five starts in July, and he'll try to keep that success going into August.

Davies had a rough start to his season, losing each of his first three outings while posting an 8.78 ERA, but in 15 starts since then he's been stellar. In that stretch he's gone 8-1 with a 2.84 ERA while holding opponents to a .217 batting average. He's pitched against the Padres only twice before, going 1-0 and keeping them to two runs through 13 1/3 innings in those two appearances.
