SD 2, TB 8: Pads get dropped at the Trop

The Padres met a swampy fate.

The San Diego Padres have moved onto their next series in their 9-game road trip, this time taking on the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. Wil Myers returned to Tropicana Field for the first time since his arrival on the San Diego squad. His squad didn't perform in any impressive way.

Luis Perdomo had the start today. He wasn't terrible. He threw for 5 innings and change, gave up 3 earned runs, walked 3 fellas, and struck out 5. Out of the 5 hits he gave up, one was a home run. The real stinker today was Leonel Campos. In his 8th inning responsibility he allowed 5 runs, which ultimately sunk the Padres.

The Friars weren't hitting hot or anything, but that's mostly because Drew Smyly got surgical. In 29 at bats, the Pads only scrounged up 3 hits and 2 runs. The first was a solo home run off Smyly by Alexei Ramirez with 1 out in the 1st inning. In ouroboros fashion, the second run was in the by Yangervis Solarte, his 13th of the season, in the 9th inning with 1 out.

The Padres lose, again, and Myers' "homecoming" was lackluster. But hey, at least he gets to have his favorite Mexican food while he's in Florida.
