Padres Preview: 7/9 Luis Perdomo takes the mound vs. Brandon McCarthy and the Dodgers

Which team will take the third of this hotly contested four game series?

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

After a game where the Padres couldn't stop giving the Dodgers home runs, the Pads will look to bounce back with an improving pitcher in Luis Perdomo.

If you missed Luis's last start in Arizona, you missed out on a youngster making some serious strides. Perdomo has has quality starts in his last two games and has been developing a sinker that held a potent Arizona lineup to three runs on nine hits with five strikeouts. Overall, Luis still hold a 5.48 ERA, but that number is steadily dropping with each performance. Let's hope Luis can do the same against another good-hitting lineup in the Dodgers.

Facing Perdomo is Brandom McCarthy, he of the Tommy John surgery. Brandon is making his second start in the big leagues after being rushed back up from his rehab assignments due to Clayton Kershaw's shelving. Brandon impressed in his first start since coming back, only allowing two hits with eight strikeouts against the Rockies. McCarthy was pulled early in that game due to old friend Dave Roberts not wanting the recently-recovered pitcher to overdo himself, so we'll see if Doc gives Brandon a longer leash this game. Let's see if the Padres can force the situation with some hitting as seen during Thursday's game!

Tonight's contest is the third of four and will start at 4:15 Left Coast Time.

Game Time: 4:15 PM
TV: Fox Sports San Diego, FSSD Deportes (Spanish)
Radio: The Mighty 1090, La Poderosa 860 (Espanol)
