Colin Rea has won each of his last two starts, and tonight he’ll try to make it three in a row as the Padres conclude their series in Arizona.
The San Diego rookie is hoping to improve on a 5-3 record this season. He goes into tonight’s matchup having posted a 4.79 ERA through his first 15 starts. Tonight will be his first career appearance against the NL West rival Diamondbacks.
On the hill for Arizona will be Shelby Miller, who’s having a tough 2016 season. Unlike Rea, Miller is coming off two straight losses, which brought him to 2-8 with a 6.85 ERA on the season. The righty already faced the Padres this year, but it was a short outing. He exited the game in the second inning after allowing two earned runs and suffering a finger injury that eventually lead to his DL stint in June. Career-wise, Miller is 1-1 with a 4.30 ERA in six appearanced (five starts) against San Diego.
