One of the biggest questions surrounding the Padres leading up to the 2016 non-waiver trade deadline is where starting pitcher Andrew Cashner would wind up. Whether or not he would get traded was not even an issue; everybody and her parents knew he was on the way out the door, including Cashner himself. The two teams that popped up most in talks surrounding the tall Texan were the Rangers and Marlins. They were both still in the thick of things until this past hour when reports sprang up left and right that the Rangers were out and the Marlins were trying their best.
As of now the return on Cashner, who will be a free agent at year's end, is unknown, but one thing is for sure: if a trade does go down with Miami, he'll look a lot different the next time we see him. Thanks to Marlins manager Don Mattingly's absurd rule, Cashner's trademark beard and mullet will become a thing of the past.
