After a loss last night to the Blue Jays and a trade to the host team that will leave Melvin Upton, Jr. in Toronto, the Padres will look to take a win with Andrew Cashner stepping up to the mound.
Cashner is coming off a pretty stellar last outing that didn't end in his favor as the bullpen couldn't hold on. He threw 5 2/3rds innings against the Cardinals and has only allowed two earned runs over his last two games (11 2/3rds innings total) while racking up 17 Ks. Andrew is heavily rumored to be traded to several teams. He even seemed to admit to the fact that he's auditioning for a part on another team
"I know I'm going to be traded. It's just part of the game, part of where the season's at."
Marcus Stroman (8-4, 4.90 ERA) has had his fair share of struggles as well. This will be his first time facing off against the Padres. The right-hander has been improving on his performances thanks to a mechanical adjustment, allowing eight hits and only one run over eight innings against the Diamondbacks in his last start. Stroman will look to deal against a team that now has one less big bat but is currently in the midst of a 23-game home run streak. Let's see if the Padres can continue to find power even with the loss of walk-off artist Melvin Upton, Jr.
The second game of the Padres first ever series in the Six kicks off rather specifically at 4:07 Left Coast Time.
