The great thing about hitting so many home runs is that it softens the blow of constant losing. "Silver lining" is usually what they call it, and lately the Padres have been a bunch of silver sluggers in July. Although, two runs ain't going to cut it against the Toronto Blue Jays.
Colin Rea put in a good effort, throwing six full innings and only conceding 3 earned runs in 5 hits. He struck out 4 and he walked 4 as well. Rea would be the one to give up the ultimate go-ahead run for the Blue Jays, but Matt Thornton also gave up a run in the 8th, making the offense's job that much more inconvenient.
A rally started in the 9th with one out and Alex Dickerson up to bat.
If you wanted more, something like a 1-out 9th inning rally to get the win, you ended up disappointed. Recent hero Ryan Schimpf popped out to center field, and then Alexei Ramirez popped out to left field. Canada wins, America loses.
