I hope you didn’t buy too much Drew Pomeranz All-Star merchandise because he was just traded to the Red Sox according to the San Diego Union-Tribune’s Dennis Lin. I think we all knew this day was coming but maybe not so quickly after his relief appearance in the All-Star Game.
As for what the Padres will be getting back from Boston, there’s still no official word.
Padres agree to trade Pomeranz to Red Sox
The return is currently unclear, though it is believed to include at least one of the Red Sox' better prospects.
It looks like at least part of the deal will include Anderson Espinoza.
Source: Espinoza is going to the Padres as at least part of the trade for Drew Pomeranz.

UPDATE: Lin is now saying that it could be a 1-for-1 deal. We’ll await confirmation by team sources.
Heard the Drew Pomeranz deal may be for Anderson Espinoza straight up. Espinoza, 18, is Baseball America's 15th-best prospect.
