Padres Preview: 07/10 Friars go for split against Dodgers before heading to All-Star Break

MLB: San Diego Padres at Milwaukee Brewers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Just one more game stands between us and the All-Star Break. This afternoon the Padres will conclude their final series of the first half as they go for the split against the Dodgers.

Christian Friedrich gets the ball for the Friars in the finale at Chavez Ravine. The lefty is coming off a tough four-game stretch during which he went 1-3 with an 8.14 ERA. This will be his second start this season against the Dodgers. His first attempt only saw him last 3 1/3 innings, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks. That was his first career start against L.A., but his 11th time facing them overall.

Kenta Maeda will try to redeem himself after his most recent start in Baltimore. The rookie right-hander tied his shortest outing of the season, going four innings and allowing four earned runs on seven hits and three walks. Maeda has faced the Padres twice already this season, but with very different results. During the opening series back in April, he threw six scoreless frames and kept the Padres to five hits and a walk at Petco Park to earn the win. In May, also at Petco Park, he gave up four earned runs through five innings.
