Padres attendance is down during All-Star year

Fan attendance at Petco Park has dropped 11% since last season over the first 31 home games.  It's almost fallen to pre-2015 levels.  The Padres leadership pushed all their chips to the center in the offseason prior to 2015 and created some excitement, there's no doubt about that.  Fans responded and purchased tickets and attendance grew accordingly.  The team was a turd, it just wasn't clear until later after they fired manager Bud Black and the season went into a free fall.

One would think that the All-Star Game and increased marketing would grow the attendance for the Padres this season.  That seemed to be the team's one saving grace.  In order to guarantee their option to buy ASG tickets, fans first needed to buy Season Tickets. But attendance is still down.  The disappointing results thus far play a part to be sure, but I sense an absence of all hope for this season and the future, which to be fair, may just be emanating from me.

I've only been to two games this season.  Two.  I went to Opening Day and then some other game.  I haven't felt the draw to the ballpark as I have in the previous decades.  The Pads and their leadership have me down and depressed.  I haven't been this disconnected from the team since the great hangover season of 1999.

Sunday games are still doing pretty good business this season even though the day is cursed and the Padres can't win.
