Padres Preview: 06/06 Christian Friedrich opens series against Braves

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

Fresh off a series win, the Padres continue their homestand with a three-game set against the Braves.

In tonight's opener, Christian Friedrich toes the rubber in his fifth game of the season. The lefty is 2-1 with a 2.53 ERA in his first four starts. This will be Friedrich's first career start against Atlanta, though he has faced them five times as a reliever, combining for 3 2/3 innings of work and allowing three earned runs on seven hits.

Making the start for the Braves will be Williams Perez, who has made two career starts against San Diego. He threw a combined 13 1/3 innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on 11 hits in those two appearances. Perez had a rough start to his 2016 season but has pitched much better in five starts since the beginning of March. He's gone 4-1 with a 3.38 ERA in that stretch.
