Back on April 21st I noticed that the Padres had painted the bare concrete around the ballpark and in doing so they painted over former owner Ray Kroc’s initials and Jerry Coleman’s star. I can’t seem to find a good picture of what it used to look like, but in the left hand side of this one you can see Jerry’s hanging star.
The painter got a little carried away and now Jerry Coleman's ⭐️ and Kroc's RAK are gone. pic.twitter.com/0RHZugWANP— Gaslamp Ball (@gaslampball) April 22, 2016
CMO Wayne Partello told us that the painted versions, while gone, would be replaced with fabricated ones. Ok, fair enough.
@Brian_Smith83 @gaslampball @PadresMikeDee Not the painter's fault. Will not be painted anymore. New versions are being fabricated.— Wayne Partello (@WaynePartello) April 22, 2016
So we waited patiently. At my next game on June 8th, there was still nothing but painted concrete.
Seems like the RAK and Coleman ⭐️ would be fabricated by now. I'll check back in a couple months. pic.twitter.com/tWDFFen6hj— Gaslamp Ball (@gaslampball) June 8, 2016
On June 13th a fabricated SD appeared. Still no RAK or Coleman star.
Looks like @Padres just hung fabricated SD sign on Press Box. Still waiting on RAK and ⭐️ pic.twitter.com/szDxYen67y— Gaslamp Ball (@gaslampball) June 14, 2016
Finally over this past weekend Darklighter spotted the new fabricated signs.

And Petco Park announced the new signage officially yesterday.

So what have we learned? Fabricated signs take a really, really long time to be made.
