Padres replace RAK and Jerry Coleman’s star on press booth facade

Back on April 21st I noticed that the Padres had painted the bare concrete around the ballpark and in doing so they painted over former owner Ray Kroc’s initials and Jerry Coleman’s star. I can’t seem to find a good picture of what it used to look like, but in the left hand side of this one you can see Jerry’s hanging star.

CMO Wayne Partello told us that the painted versions, while gone, would be replaced with fabricated ones. Ok, fair enough.

So we waited patiently. At my next game on June 8th, there was still nothing but painted concrete.

On June 13th a fabricated SD appeared. Still no RAK or Coleman star.

Finally over this past weekend Darklighter spotted the new fabricated signs.

And Petco Park announced the new signage officially yesterday.

So what have we learned? Fabricated signs take a really, really long time to be made.
