Pads drop the ball in second game of the series

A 7-2 loss against Baltimore throws another L into the pile.

Yesterday was nice. Let's go back to yesterday. We had a cool comeback despite some poor starting pitching and the offense was clicking. Today, instead, the pitching fell apart and the offense got nothing going.Just the right ingredients for a decisive loss.

Erik Johnson was totally abysmal today. He lasted a weak 4 innings, gave up 6 hits and 6 runs, 2 home runs, and a walk. At this point, he's bringing nothing to the table as a starter other than runs. A James Shield replacement in the sense that he's giving up at least 4 runs and a home run every start.

Offensively, other than Matt Kemp popping off again, the Friars left a lot to be desired. Only 5 hits total were mustered up, and the only runs came from two different Kemp RBI-singles. Melvin Upton Jr. Brett Wallace, and Christian Bethancourt all struck out twice, giving the Padres a total of 11 K's.

None of the magic, none of the results.

Christian Friedrich and John Lamb will go toe-to-toe tomorrow, and the San Diego Padres will get a shot to at least split the series against the Orioles.
