The second day in Peoria kicked off with the announcement of the Padres' Opening Day starter for the 2016 season. Tyson Ross, the formerly-goateed man we might not ever see wear blue and yellow, started off his spring with some bullpen sessions as his first scheduled regular season start of 2016 was declared across Friar media.
Goodness, that beard is great. Behind it, Tyson mentioned he's ready to get the ball rolling for this 2016 team. Dude looks ready to do more than just K fools with his slider with that thing.
The rest of the day was packed full of your standard drills and conditioning between pitchers and catchers alike. Speaking of catchers, the Padres made the nod that we should not be expecting to see Derek Norris and his beard anywhere other than behind a catchers mask.

Austin Hedges spoke a bit about his warming up today, noting that he's ready for an intense Spring Training.
There were some cameos at the Arizona camp. Trevor Hoffman and Tyson Ross threw the ball around a bit, and Andy Ashby was spotted. Hideo Nomo, our Pacific Rim and resident kaiju expert also made an appearance.
The arms and legs were stretchin', the beards are grown, and the real workout of 2016 has officially begun.
Also worth noting: Matt Kemp has been discovered with a new haircut.
.@TheRealMattKemp is sporting a new 'do at #PadresST.
Thoughts?@BrieThiele coined it the #Kempyhttps://t.co/6PWgJ8sQX2
