The Padres play their penultimate game of the 2016 season tonight at Chase Field. After losing game 1 last night, they’ll be looking to even things up as they send Clayton Richard to the mound this evening.

Richard has had some good success against the Diamondbacks in his career. In 12 starts against them, he’s 8-2 with a 3.72 ERA. He pitched well in both of his starts against them this season, most recently earning a win with a 6 1/3-inning performance on September 19th, when he kept them two two earned runs on six hits and two walks. He was even better on August 20th, allowing only two runs - both unearned - on two hits and three walks while striking out five batters. He was tagged with the loss that time, however.

Dbacks starter, Archie Bradley, went 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA in four starts against San Diego this year. He’s coming off one of the weakest outings of his season. He only lasted 3 2/3 innings and gave up four earned runs on six hits and four walks against the Nationals on Tuesday. He’s racked up a 5.15 ERA on the season, going 7-9 through 25 starts coming into today’s matchup.
