On Wednesday evening, January 6th, the 2016 Hall of Fame class will be announced. We'll finally find out if Trevor Hoffman will become a first-ballot Hall of Famer or if he'll have to wait a little while longer to join fellow Padres Tony Gwynn and Dave Winfield in Cooperstown.
Hall of Fame Jeff Idelson will make the announcement live on MLB Network and MLB.com as part of a four-hour show. Coverage will begin at 12:00 pm PT, with the announcement of the results scheduled for 3:00 pm PT. Following will be interviews with the inductees.
According to a press release from MLB Network, the Hall of Fame Announcement show, hosted by Greg Amsinger and Brian Kenny, will include discussion and analysis from several different people. Amsinger and Kenny will be joined by Bob Costas, Al Leiter, Harold Reynolds, Chris Russo, Hall of Fame voters Jon Heyman, Peter Gammons, Ken Rosenthal, Joel Sherman, Tom Verducci, and 2015 Hall of Fame inductee John Smoltz. Coverage will include the history of the Hall of Fame, analysis - both traditional and sabermetric - of this year's candidates, and discussion of the future of the Hall of Fame.
If you can't wait for noon on Wednesday, MLB Network will also be airing Hall of Fame specials in the days leading up to the announcement. The schedule for this programming will be as follows:
