The Padres have a disappointing 66-73 record, which is the same record as they did last year after 139 games. All those off-season moves didn't make much of a difference when it came to the team's winning percentage, but it sure helped the attendance. As Padres we fans bought the marketing message hook, line and sinker and purchased our tickets early and often. I say "we" but really I mean "you", since I've attended my fewest number of games since probably 1999. The Padres would trade me for you every year if they could, as they should.
Ben Higgins notes on his Twitter that tonight the Padres will pass last year's entire season attendance and they still have 10 more home games to play.
Tonight, the @Padres will pass last season's attendance total, and will still have 10 more home games remaining.

Here's my break down of the season averages after 70 home games for each season. The data is courtesy of Baseball-Reference. If the Padres are ever going to get their attendance up to the peak levels in 2004, the team will either need to start winning or build a new ballpark. The new ballpark may be an easier feat, at least it seems that way to this fan.
