The Padres didn't get lucky on Labor Day, dropping the first game of four against the Rockies. Tonight they'll try again as Colin Rea takes the hill in game 2. Since making his Major League debut on August 11th, Rea is 2-2 with a 5.47 ERA in five starts. He was solid his last time out, throwing five innings of two-run ball against the Dodgers for his first career no-decision.
On the mound for Colorado will be another young right-hander. Jon Gray made his Major League Debut a week before Rea, on August 5th. In his six starts as a big leaguer, he's posted a 6.15 ERA and has yet to be credited with a decision. He has already faced the Padres once, pitching five innings and keeping them to just one run on four hits on August 15th.
