The Padres play their penultimate home game of the season this evening as they try to even up the series against the visiting Brewers. Last night a couple of costly mistakes kept Tyson Ross and the Friars from victory. Tonight Andrew Cashner will look to keep Milwaukee off the board and keep hope alive for a series win.
Cashner lost his last start against the Brewers despite a solid outing. He went six innings and allowed only two runs, though he did give up eight hits and issued four walks along the way. That was his tenth career appearance (fourth start) against the Brew Crew. Going into tonight's game, he has a 2-2 record and 3.33 ERA against them.
Cashner's opponent on the mound tonight will be yet another Milwaukee rookie. Zach Davies made his Major League debut at the beginning of September and is five games into his Major League career. He's gone 2-2 with a 4.67 ERA in his first five starts.
