The Padres, fresh off a four-game split against the Rockies, will take on another NL West foe this weekend as they hit the road against the Giants. First up in the series will be Andrew Cashner, who will face off against former Friar Jake Peavy.
Cashner is 0-2 in his last three starts, giving up nine runs on 22 hits through 16 2/3 total innings in that stretch. He lost his only previous outing this season against the Giants, pitching six innings and allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits, including a home run. His all-time record against San Francisco is a deceiving 2-4 in 12 total appearances (six starts). He's posted a 4.75 ERA in those 12 games, totaling 41 2/3 innings of work, striking out 37 batter's along the way.
Peavy has yet to notch a win against his former team, though he hasn't had many opportunities to try. He's only faced the Padres twice before tonight, going 0-1 and allowing five runs through just nine innings of work between those two starts. Peavy is 2-0 in his last three starts, though he's posted a 4.58 ERA in that span.
A win for the Padres tonight would be their seventh against the Giants in 2015, putting them even at seven games apiece in the season series.
