The Padres split the series against the Rockies. They would have won the series if they didn't have to play the 4th game which was a make-up game. Pretty crazy that they had to play that make-up game because of rain on the hottest day in Petco Park history.
Today's game time temperature of 93 degrees is the warmest in Petco Park history and the warmest in San Diego since 8/30/1998. #Padres— Friar Figures (@FriarFigures) September 10, 2015
In the last series, Jedd Gyorko was the Series MVP and he had a strong chance at repeating, but of course, the make-up game had to get in the way and another player put themselves into the race.
|Batters||Game 1||Game 2||Game 3||Game 4||Total|
|M. Upton Jr.||1||0||10||-5||6|
|Starters||Game 1||Game 2||Game 3||Game 4||Total|
|Relievers||Game 1||Game 2||Game 3||Game 4||Total|
Jedd Gyorko was having a pretty nice series against Colorado. He went 5 for 15 with a home run and 3 RBI, but another player came up huge in the series.
Man, this is the guy the Padres wanted when he was traded to San Diego in the offseason. He taxed the Rockies for 3 home runs and went 6 for 12 in the series. His batting average is now .271 which is the first time he's been above .270 since May 17th when he had a .273 BA.
His 3 home runs give him 5 for September already with over half a month left to go. After hitting only 1 home run in April and May combined, Kemp has hit 5 home runs in each month since then.
That's why this series' MVP was Matt Kemp. He is looking better and better every series.
