Game 141 Preview: 09/10 Padres vs. Rockies

The Padres and Rockies complete their four-game series.

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Padres will try to secure a series win this afternoon as they wrap up their four-game set against the Rockies, and the longest homestand of their season. Today's game is a make-up of the rainout that took place at Petco Park on July 19th.

Andrew Cashner pitched in that July 19th game, going 4 2/3 innings and allowing only one run (unearned) against the Rockies. Before he could complete the 5th inning, the game was delayed - and later postponed. The Padres were leading 2-1 at the time, but those stats were erased and the game rescheduled for today, which would have been a travel/off-day for both teams otherwise.

Cashner will miss the Rockies this time around, and Tyson Ross will make the start in the series finale. He's coming off a couple of strong outings, totaling 13 innings of one-run ball through which he allowed only eight hits and four walks. In three starts against the Rockies this season, he's allowed nine runs and gone 0-1, though the Padres won both of his no-decisions.

Jorge De La Rosa lost all three of his previous starts against San Diego this season, giving up a combined 12 runs. The worst of those outings was De La Rosa's season opener. He only lasted two innings, giving up seven runs on nine hits and a walk. But the southpaw is coming off two straight wins, having beaten the Pirates and NL West rival Giants with 13 combined innings and allowing one run between the two appearances.
