The Padres send Andrew Cashner to the mound opposite Jimmy Nelson.

Last night Andrew Cashner spent the game in the dugout pranking all of us viewers at home. Tonight our eyes will be on him again as he takes the mound in game 2 of the four-game set at Miller Park.

Cashner will make his 20th start of the season, seeking just his fifth win. He wasn't so hot in his last outing, when he gave up seven runs (five earned) against the Mets in 5 1/3 innings. But he has some past success against the Brewers on which to fall back as he goes into tonight's matchup. In nine career appearances (three starts) against Milwaukee, Cashner is 2-1 with a 3.43 ERA.

The Padres will go up against Brewers starter Jimmy Nelson, who looks to continue a 14-inning scoreless streak. Nelson pitched seven-inning shutouts in each of his last two starts, keeping opponents to seven combined hits while striking out 13. He lost his only career appearance against San Diego last August, going five innings and allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits, though he struck out seven batters along the way.
