The Padres lost their first series opener in five tries last night as they fell by a score of 8-3 to the Nationals. Tonight they look to even things up and prevent (or at the very least postpone) losing their first series again in five tries.
Tyson Ross gets the call in game 2 at Nationals Park, and hopefully he'll be able to continue his success on the road. In 15 starts away from Petco Park this season, Ross is 53 with a 2.71 ERA, compared to a 3-6 record and 4.13 ERA in 11 starts at home. Ross has faced the Nationals five times in his career, but only twice so far as a starter. Overall he's 1-1 with a 4.41 ERA against Washington.
Unlike Ross, Gio Gonzalez has been much better at home than on the road in 2015. He's 5-2 with a 2.98 ERA in ten starts at home, though he lost his most recent home outing. He gave up five runs (four earned) on eight hits in five innings, walking two batters while striking out five along the way. Gonzalez has been dominant in his three career appearances against San Diego, going 2-0 with a 2.33 ERA.
