Game 121 Preview: 08/19 Padres vs. Braves

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Padres close out their three-game set against the Braves this afternoon, and a sweep is on their minds as they send Tyson Ross to the hill opposite Julio Teheran.

Ross only allowed two earned runs (four total runs) against the Rockies his last time out, but a high pitch count caused him to leave the game after five innings and end up with a no-decision. He also kept the Braves to two earned runs (three total runs) the last time he faced them, on June 10th. He also gave up eight hits and two walks in six innings against them, getting the loss. That was only his second career appearance against Atlanta. He's 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in those outings.

Teheran lost to the Padres the last time he faced them too. On June 11th he gave up four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks through seven innings, striking out seven batters along the way. In four career starts against San Diego, he is 1-2 with a 5.26 ERA. Teheran won his most recent outing, keeping the Diamondbacks to one run on just three hits and two walks. He also struck out seven through six innings of work.
