The Padres are back on the road after going 2-4 in their road trip. Tonight they kick off a three-game set in Colorado, against a Rockies team they've played consistently well against all season. In nine meetings between the two teams, San Diego is 7-2. They might have won an eighth time, but their most recent game against the Rockies was called and postponed due to rain.
Tyson Ross has pitched twice against the Rockies already this season, but he's hoping for more luck tonight. He went 0-1 in those first two starts this year and remains winless all-time against Colorado. In nine career appearances (seven starts) against the Rockies, Ross is 0-5 with a 3.35 ERA.
Rox starter Yohan Flande is seeking his first career win against the Padres. He's only faced them three times (twice as a starter) in his career, going 0-2 with a 5.23 ERA. He has yet to pitch against them this season, however, so tonight will be his first time seeing AJ Preller's new guys. Tonight will also be just Flande's fourth start of the season and 12th appearance overall. His most recent outing, on Sunday, was a short one after he was used in extra innings the night before (and was credited with a win). He took a no-decision against the Nationals on Sunday after allowing three runs - all solo homers - in 4 2/3 innings of work.
