The Padres have been playing some dramatic, exciting - and, most importantly, winning - baseball lately. They've won six of their last seven games, including last night's extra-inning victory. They'll try to continue that tonight and lock up a series win in game 2 at Marlins Park.
Odrisamer Despaigne will make the start for San Diego, hoping to ride some of the momentum the team has been carrying the past week. Despaigne beat the Marlins in his last start, giving up just one run on two hits in six innings of work. However that was his only winning decision in his last seven starts, a stretch during which he's gone 1-3 with a 5.19 ERA.
On the mound for the Marlins will be Jose Urena, taking the spot of Mat Latos, who was traded to the Dodgers earlier this week. This will be Urena's third big league stint this season. In his first two, he made nine total appearances. Seven times he took the hill as a starter, going 1-4 with a 4.04 ERA.
