Well that was really anti-climactic. After talks of huge trades coming at the last minute it looks like the Padres didn't do a whole lot as the trade deadline came and went. Jim Bowden tweeted the following and now we're left wondering what the hell happened.

Ken Rosenthal (the real one) says that it might be for a left handed reliever, which coincidentally was the missing piece that was keeping the Padres from a playoff run.
#Padres were working to acquire a left-handed reliever late.

The reason for the lack of action is one that doesn't make a whole lot of sense. GM A.J. Preller suddenly thinks this team can reach the postseason? Fangraphs has them with a 4.0% chance at the wildcard.
#Padres largely standing pat because GM A.J. Preller believes the team can reach the postseason, source says.

This is a weird team.
