The Padres just took two of three games in New York in dramatic fashion, and they're on a bit of a roll lately. They'll try to keep the good vibes as they continue their road trip down the east coast.
They open up a series in Miami this afternoon, hoping to repeat the success they found when the Marlins visited San Diego last week. The Friars took three of the four-game set as. Ian Kennedy is scheduled to make the start on paternity leave, expecting his fourth child, so Odrisamer Despaigne will make the start in the series opener opposite David Phelps.
UPDATE:
Ian Kennedy will make tonight's start, after all. Couldn't get out of town because of the weather.

Kennedy put up a strong performance against the Marlins in that last out, going six innings and allowing only one run on seven hits and a walk, striking out seven batters along the way. It was his fourth win in seven tries all-time against Miami.
Phelps gave up two runs in his six innings of work in his first ever start against San Diego, but he and the Marlins ended up on the losing end of the 3-1 score. Despaigne was solid in his start against Miami on Sunday, going six innings and allowing only one run on two hits. Thanks to the Padres' off day on Monday, Despaigne will still be working on five days' rest.
