The Padres' losing streak grew to three games last night as they dropped the first of a four-game set against the Marlins. Andrew Cashner and Dan Haren will face off in game 2 tonight.
Cashner has a career 1-2 record and 2.91 ERA in seven outings (three starts) against Miami. Tonight he is making his first appearance since the rainout last Sunday cut his start short against the Rockies. In his three outings prior to that, he is 1-1 with a 3.05 ERA, giving up seven runs on 14 hits in that stretch.
Overall, wins have been hard to come by for the right-hander, partly due to his own struggles, but also asked by our run support from the Padres offense.
As a former NL West pitcher, Dan Haren has 21 games (20 starts) against the Padres under his belt. In those meetings, he is 7-5 with a 3.48 ERA. Since joining the Marlins this year, he has been a solid member of the rotation, going 7-5 with a 3.46 ERA in his first 19 starts.
