The Padres have now won every series against the Rockies at Petco Park since July of 2013. This afternoon they'll go for the sweep as Andrew Cashner takes the mound against Eddie Butler in the series finale.
Cashner's season has been full of ups and downs, but he hopes to kick off his second half on a high note and help the Padres extend their win streak to five games. He takes on the Rockies today for the 11th time (6th as a starter) in his career, but 1st time in 2015. In his previous ten outings against Colorado, he is 1-3 with a 5.91 ERA through 35 total innnings of work.
The 24-year-old Butler is making his 12th start of the season, but first since June 9th, when he was sent down to Triple-A Albuquerque. In his first 11 starts of the year, he went 3-6 with a 4.80 ERA. One of those starts was against this Padres team at Petco Park. He only lasted four innings, allowing five runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks, getting credited with the resulting loss. That was his first and only career outing against San Diego.
