Game 55 Preview: 06/03 Padres vs. Mets

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The undefeated James Shields will make the start in the series finale, still in search of his seventh win of the season. Shields has faced the Mets once in his career, and it was a beauty. He tossed seven innings of one-run ball to earn the win, allowing only three hits, walking no one, and striking out four batters along the way.

The Mets will send Dillon Gee to the mound to try to lock up a series win in his first outing since May 3rd. Gee hit the disabled list last month with a groin strain, and he returns as part of the Mets' six-man rotation. It'll be the right-hander's fifth career start against San Diego after going 2-2 wth a 2.52 ERA in his first four. Gee is still seeking his first win of the season. Through his first five starts, he went 0-2 with a 3.86 ERA.
