Wil Myers seems to be ready to go

The 24-year-old injured OF/1B pretty much rocked his rehab assignment in AAA. Now what?

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

On Sunday, Wil Myers started a rehab assignment with the El Paso Chihuahuas. The plan was to have him play some CF and some 1B and get comfortable playing baseball again after suffering from left wrist tendinitis. He totally did that. On Sunday he played CF and went 2 for 5. On Monday, he switched to 1B and went 1 for 5 with a home run. Yesterday he stayed at 1B and went 2 for 5 with 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. At least from a statistical standpoint the rehab assignment was a success.

Oh right, and that home run on Monday, it was a monster:

The next step in the Myers rehabilitation process is supposed to be a re-evaluation today, Wednesday, to see if he's ready to return. It seems like that will go well. If so, he will either be reactivated Thursday or they could wait till they return home and activate him in time to face the Dodgers. Either way, there will be a bit of a roster crunch and it'll be interesting to see who gets sent down. It'll also be interesting to see how they fit him into a lineup where Will Venable and Yonder Alonso are doing well in CF and 1B respectively.
