The Padres will send Odrisamer Despaigne to the mound today as they look to even up the series in Anaheim. In nine outings (five starts) in 2015, Despaigne is 2-3 with a 6.11 ERA. All three of his losses came in his last three starts, though his most recent was an improvement. He went six innings and gave up two runs to the Cubs at Petco Park after previously giving up a combined 15 earned runs in his prior two starts.
Angels starter Matt Shoemaker has also had a rough season so far, going 3-4 with a 6.29 ERA through his first eight starts. His latest outing saw him yield seven runs in six innings of work against the Blue Jays.
Bud Black finally moved Matt Kemp down the lineup, to the cleanup spot, behind Justin Upton. And Jedd Gyorko has been tabbed as the designated hitter in the middle game of this three-game set.
