After losing a heartbreaker to the Dodgers last night, the Padres will try again in game 2 as Ian Kennedy takes the mound against Mike Bolsinger.
After battling back from an early-season injury, Kennedy struggled in most of his starts. He's 2-3 with a 6.75 ERA on the season, and his worst outing of all came against the same team he'll be facing tonight. Kennedy gave up eight runs and lasted only 4 1/3 innings on April 25th against the Dodgers at Petco Park. In 18 career starts against L.A. he's 5-8 with a 4.58 ERA.
Bolsinger has only faced San Diego once in his career, last season as a member of the Diamondbacks. He allowed two runs through six innings, but was tagged with a loss in that game. Tonight he makes his fourth start of the season after going 2-0 in his first three outings. He's kept opponents to two runs while pitching a combined 17 1/3 innings so far, and he'll look to build on that solid start to his season as he takes on the struggling Padres.
Game time is set for 7:10 pm PT at Dodger Stadium.
