Game 25 Preview: 05/02 Padres vs. Rockies

Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

The Padres got a much-needed win yesterday in their series opener at home against the Rockies. It was their second 14-3 win over Colorado, the first of which came against tonight's starter, Jorge De La Rosa.

De La Rosa opened up the season on the disabled list, then gave up nine of those 14 runs to the Padres on April 20th, his first game back. The nine runs tied a career high for the southpaw, but he did much better his last time out against the Giants, giving up only two runs on four hits and striking out seven. De La Rosa hopes to continue his success at Petco Park, where he is a lifetime 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA in seven starts.

On the mound for San Diego will be Brandon Morrow, who gave up five runs to the Rockies in six innings of work on April 21st. In three home starts this season, Morrow has kept opponents to a three runs combined over 21 frames. He most recently limited the Dodgers to just one run in seven innings as the Padres beat the Dodgers last Sunday.

First pitch this evening is set for 5:40 pm PT.
