Game 35 Preview: 05/13 Padres @ Mariners

After getting dominated in the series opener last night, the Padres hope to end the road trip on a good note by splitting the two-game set against the Mariners.

The Padres list a rough one last night in the opening game of the 2015 regular season Vedder Cup. Tonight they'll turn to James Shields to get them above the. 500 mark and leave Seattle with a series split.

Shields will also be looking to keep his undefeated streak intact as he makes his eighth start of the season. For him, and the rest of the Padres pitching corps, the long ball has been an issue lately. San Diego leads the majors in home runs allowed after giving up six last night to the Mariners. James Shields alone has yielded seven home runs over his last two starts.

Taijuan Walker will get the ball for Seattle, pitching one game ahead of his normal spot in the rotation to allow lefty Roenis Elias to make the Thursday start against the Red Sox. Behind Walker, the Markets will try to extend their winning streak to five games and send the Padres home on the losing end of a two-game sweep.

Tune in at 7:10 pm PT to see if the Padres can salvage that split and make it a happy flight back to San Diego.
