I was just listening to the Darren Smith Show and producer Marty Caswell was asking Darren to count up how many blowout losses the Padres collected last year compared to this year.
@gaslampball You mean Darren's extra credit? Want to know how many blowout losses Padres had last year
— Marty Caswell (@MartyCaswell) May 13, 2015
@gaslampball Exactly what we were debating during the break. Let's go 5 runs or more
— Marty Caswell (@MartyCaswell) May 13, 2015
In their first 17 losses they're averaging a run differential of 4.4 runs. That's the second differential for a full season behind 1974's 4.55. In the first 17 games it's the 3rd highest differential behind 1974's 5.71 and 1995's 4.53.
Here's the count I came up with for blowout losses of 5 runs or more. So far the 2015 Padres have the third highest blowout loss rate in their history.
